Had to. There's one thing here that's been rattling in brain.

A - Your current OTP
Barbara/Ian forever. Barbarian, if you will.

B - A pairing you initially didn’t consider but someone changed your mind
My first thought was Ahmad/Jaffar of The Thief of Bagdad fame (all because of a fanvid), but I'm not in that fandom.

C - A pairing you have never liked and probably never will
Will not answer. Not because I'm afraid of being crucified, I just don't want to rain on people's parades.

D - A pairing you wish you liked but just can’t
Read number C.

E - Have you added anything stupid/cracky/hilarious to your fandom, if so, what?
It's all drops in the ocean, but yes. What? Pretty much everything I've ever drawn and written :P

F - What’s the longest you’ve ever been in a fandom?
Doctor Who. (Would say Pókemon, but I don't do much besides looking at fanart.)

G - Do you remember your first OTP, if so who was in it?
No idea. Belle/Beast? Willy Fogg/Romy? Robin Hood/Maid Marion? Who knows?

H - Do you prefer characters from real action series or anime series?
While I like anime, I'm more of a live-action person. But this is comparing apples and oranges.

I - Has Tumblr caused you to stop liking any fandoms, if so, which and why?
Not exactly Tumblr, and I didn't stop liking it, just became more shut off from it.
And people say I lack social skills...

J - Name a fandom you didn’t care/think about until you saw it all over Tumblr
I guess Caligari? I never expected a silent film to have such a fandom. It makes sense here, there's so many loose ends and vagueness you can pick at and discuss, it's a beautiful-looking film, so lots of art the somnambulist is hot.

K - How do you feel about the other people in your current fandom?
I have curated my DW fandom experience so well over the years I like it here. Granted, it's mostly classic Who.
The Conrad Veidt fandom has great artists. Yeah.

L - Your favorite fanartist/author gives you one request, what do you ask for?
The next part of the series?

M - Your favorite fanart or fanartist?
I can't choose just one.
Connie Veidt as Leyendecker socks man be upon thee

N - Your favorite fanfiction or fanauthor?
I love thisiszircon's Undercurrents.

O - Choose a song at random, which OTP does it remind you of
My one weakness!
Pet Shop Boys - Suburbia
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

P - Invent a random AU for any fandom (we always need more ideas)
Sir meme, I have been haunted by the three sentence fic/drabble fusion of Ich und die Kaiserin and The Phantom of the Opera (1925 film edition). No need for more inventions.
Wait. Since Captain Hardt is in Anno Dracula (and a vampire), The Spy in Black AU but Hardt is a vampire and survives. \o/

Q - A ship you’ve abandoned and why
Never. They stick together till the ends of time.

R - A pairing you ship that you don’t think anyone else ships
All the rarepairs from the teeny tiny fandoms ('cept Kurt/Paul Anders als die Andern, Droste/Ellissen of FP1 and Lancelot/Lynette of anything Arthurian.)
Or Erik/Me.

S - Show us an example of your personal headcanon
Erik dyes his hair white. Or his valet does. All for the aesthetic.

T - If you mostly have homoships, do you have any heteroships?
This! This was what's bugging me because I've never heard the terms "homoship" and "hereroship". Are they recent terms? Or are they older but more obscure?
I dunno.

U - If you mostly have heteroships, do you have any homoships?
Read T.

V - Are you one of those fans who can’t watch anything without shipping?
Don't think so.

W - 5 favorite characters from 5 different fandoms
Did this here

X - 3 OTPs from 3 different fandoms
Doctor Who - Barbara/Ian <3
Anders als die Andern - Kurt/Paul (obviously)
The Spy in Black - Hardt/Bütter

Y - A fandom you’re in but have no ships from
Caligari, probably.
Wait no, those three dudes. They're basically canon, that doesn't count.

Z - Just ramble about something fan-related, go go go
Connie's films should be more readily available. By this time last year, we got one previously unavailable film. Where's Hektor Dalmore? Christian Wahnschaffe? (What other unavailable films have people's names as the title?)
At least there's still

Stolen from here.

1. The last sentence you wrote.
Such was the life of a musician.

2. A character whose POV you’re currently exploring.
Well, I took a break from those forever WIPs to do an Anders als die Andern fic, so it's Paul.

3. How you feel about your current WIP.
New short Paul fic: eh
Oberaertz thing: I can't look at it anymore
Barbara's TARDIS adventure fic: lmao

4. A story idea you haven’t written yet.
Went to the ideas list, and saw something about Ian being afraid of ducks. Let's go with that.

5. First sentence of the fifth paragraph of an unpublished WIP.
From the new short Paul fic:
It took a lot of courage from him to take his parents to the doctor.

From the Oberaertz thing:
With an instantaneous head turn, that stern blue gaze of his found her amidst the dimness, cutting her right through.

From the Barbara's TARDIS adventure fic:
Barbara may have been exhausted, but gathered the strength to tend to her equally fatigued companions.

Normal stuff.

6. The word that appears the most in your current draft (wordcounter.net can tell you).
New short Paul fic: time
Oberaertz thing: one
Barbara's TARDIS adventure: after

7. Your preferred writing fonts.
My handwriting. When I write on the computer, Times New Roman because I'm basic.

8. If you had to write a sequel to a fic, you’d write one for…
Doctor Who and the Watermen, because the Watermen are funky little guys and I did so much worldbuilding for them that has gone unused.

9. Start to finish, how long did it take you to write the last fic you posted?
One day. If it doesn't take me a day to write a fic, it takes months lol

10. What is the longest amount of time you’ve let a draft rest before you finished it?
*sideeyes the Barbara TARDIS fic that has been sitting there for over a year*

11. A WIP you’d like to finish someday.
That one up there.

12. A trope you’re really into right now.
Whatever Maria and Captain von Trapp have going on, apparently.

13. A fandom you’re thinking about writing for.
Anno Dracula. I haven't even read it but from the things I know...

14. Where do you get your inspiration?
Right now?

15. Favorite weather for writing.
As long as I'm not freezing or sweating, I'm fine.

16. Favorite place to write.
At a table. That's all.

17. Talk about your writing and editing process.
Throw words on the page, see if it sticks. Then rewrite 50 times. Throw some more words. Rewrite again. Panic.

18. If you keep them, share a deleted sentence or paragraph from a published fic.
I would have to scourge my notebook, and I don't feel like readimg the finished piece and the drafts to see what's different.

19. The most interesting topic you’ve researched for a fic.
WW1 German uniforms and I barely used what I learnt in the fic. The research curse!

20. In what year did you publish your first fic?
Can't remember. It doesn't matter, it no longer exists.

21. When did you publish your most recent fic?
Exactly a week ago.

22. Do you ever worry about public reaction to what you’re writing? How do you get past that?
Yes, but if I don't do it, who will? Who looks at Ich und die Kaiserin and says "I wanna write fic of that"??

23. Pick three keywords that describe your writing.
Short, introspective, amateur.

24. How do you recharge when you’re not feeling creative?
I let it be.

25. Besides writing, what are your other hobbies?
I'm a visual artist first and foremost.

26. Are you able to write with other people around?
As long as they aren't talking to me.

27. Your favorite part of the writing process.
*sweats nervously* Seeing the ideas come to life on paper? Same with drawing, really.

28. Your least favorite part of the writing process.
Words, what are they?

29. How easy is it for you to come up with titles?
Not very. It's why I have fics titled "Investigating". Wow, incredible, stunning.

30. Share a fic you’re especially proud of.
Denouement, the Dark Journey fic. Still proud of that one :D

Stalking the feed for 3W4D, saw this.

Three weeks for Dreamwidth: Name five characters from five different fandoms that you like.

1. Doctor Who - Ace
The character who made me watch the classic series, and fall deeply in love with it. "80s personified", not just in terms of culture, but also progressive politics (the seventh Doctor era was filled to the brim with new, young writers). She's more. The girl from a broken home who grows up. Her relationship with the Doctor is the best ever.

2. The Adventures of Sir Lancelot - Brian
It would be too easy to just choose Lancelot. Brian is a brave kitchen boy who wants to be a knight. And despite the prejudice he's forced to endure, still carries on (helped by Lancelot and Merlin). He's also adorable.

3. Anders als die Andern - Kurt
Again, it would be too easy to choose Paul. The sad thing is, a lot of Kurt's side of the story is lost. There's some wonder to him. He's already in love with Paul ("Young Kurt Sivers never misses
a concert by Paul Körner.", gee, I wonder why?), so him asking for violin lessons is him seeking for knowledge, not just about music, but about himself. I dunno man, I just think he's neat.

4. The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari - Cesare
Okay, choosing the milquetoast answer lol. If you ask anyone about Caligari (the film), they'll talk about the ~ german expressionist style ~ and "goth icon" Cesare, who's barely in the film. He haunts the shadows, doesn't he? And with how vague the plot is, you kinda have to puzzle who Cesare is, and everyone has a different interpretation. It's great.

5. Ich und die Kaiserin - André Robert Maxime aka the Marquis
Honestly, all the characters (and I'm speaking solely about characters) are fun. You could choose whoever. But this guy is so stupidly endearing and endearingly stupid. And prinzessin; he's so glittery and pretty and he would be some great arm-candy (can you tell I think he's husband material lol).
("Fandom", I'm the only person on it. But hey, I love this film, I'll take all the chances I can to talk about it.)
scifirenegade: Steven is beardy and happy! (steven)
Stole a meme from the bowels of LJ.

Go to your current work in progress and share the following:

The first paragraph of the work.

The Barbara Searching for the TARDIS' Wine Cellar fic:

It was one of those days.

The Oberaertz thing:

She tugged at the coarse rope binding her wrists, filled with fiery determination to free herself and run, run out of the window and away, never to be found again, but she was out of luck. The more she fought against the knot — tied with a skilful hand behind the backrest of the, frankly, not uncomfortable chair —, the more it constricted her. The harsh fibres grazed against her skin, leaving behind patchy marks of a wretched red. Painful, for sure, but those marks wouldn't be permanent. They weren't cutting her to the bone. Pausing her struggle, her hands flexed in an attempt to keep the blood flowing.

Very different vibes here.

The first paragraph of your current chapter (or if it's a one-shot, the first line of the tenth paragraph).

Gonna be the tenth paragraph thing. First is Barbara Wine fic, second is Oberaertz thing:

If only she knew the food machine's code for wine.

Almost.

Lol. It appears I really love single sentence paragraphs.

The last paragraph you wrote.

Oberaertz:

"Well, look at her now..."

-_-'

A line for a chapter/part you haven't written yet.

I don't get this. If I haven't written it yet, how can I have a line to share? Help?

scifirenegade: Screencap of Erik from The Last Performance, kissing a picture frame. It's tinted in pink, and there are pink hearts drawn. (love | erik)
What's the most depressing movie you've ever watched?

Off the top of my head, The War Zone (1999). Proceed with caution when searching it.

What's the most disturbing movie you've ever watched?

See above: The War Zone (1999). And Mommie Dearest (1981).

Let me get this clear: I'm solely judging it as a film. And I don't see the fun camp everyone talks about.

There are scenes that are so close to certains moments of my life, it's uncanny. The bathroom scene... that godamn bathroom scene...

An actor/actress you've seen in more than 8 movies? Name the movies.

My beloved Jacqueline Hill only made 2 films, and Conrad Veidt is oh, so predictable, let's bring an old favourite.

Folks, Mr. William Russell:

  1. The Big Chance (1957), one of my favourite films

  2. One Good Turn (1955), was a lot better than I expected!

  3. Above Us the Waves (1955), kickstarted my love for sub films

  4. The Great Escape (1963), the classic

  5. An Adventure in Space and Time (2013), hey, it's good lol

  6. The Gay Dog (1954), such a sweetie he is here

  7. Adventure Story (1961), it's the homoeroticism

  8. Return to Sender (1963), not good at all, but Mike Cochrane is *chef's kiss*

A film you could watch on repeat for the rest of your life?

The Back to the Future trilogy, Ghostbusters (1984), Beauty and the Beast (1991), Coraline (2009) (so, my top faves lol).

Mulan (1998) is also like that, and I have no idea why. I used to watch The Blue Parrot (1953) every single night, back when my insomnia was horrendous. And Donkey Xote (2007), but, uh, yeah.

What's the very first film you remember watching?

I remember the first time I went to the cinema. I wasn't told where we were going, the room was huge and dark. I was what, 3 years old? I panicked.

We went to see Treasure Planet (2002). I couldn't watch that film for a decade. Now I quite like it :D

A film you wish you hadn't watched?

A lot of the recent Hollywood blockbusters. They're not my jam, simple as that. But my friends want to see them, and I'm not a whiny baby.

A film you wish had a sequel?

Eh, I've seen what they've done to Caligari. They suck so bad noone remembers they exist.

Which book would you like to see adapted into a film?

Book to film adaptations are so hard to get right, though. Can't think of any.

The most aesthetically pleasing movie you've ever watched?

I love Georges Méliès films so much, I wanted a feature-length film that looked like that. Thankfully, Karel Zeman heard my future prayers in the past.

But I haven't seen any of his films, yet.

So, The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (1920), Coraline (2009), Loving Vincent (2017), Suspiria (1977), Lust for Life (1956), Metropolis (1927), Nosferatu (1922), Sunrise (1927), The Student of Prague (1926) (nothing to with the main guy or anything *cough*), Spirited Away (2001), A Woman's Face (1941), The Last Performance (1929), Speed Racer (2008) and I'm going to stop because it's getting too long :P

What's your favourite movie director?

Don't have one tbh

Your favourite movie genre?

I would say science fiction, but *looks up* it would be hard to tell with all that eh?

A movie that holds a special place in your heart?

The Back to the Future trilogy. My father said "You have to watch this!" and we spent that Sunday afternoon watching it. One of my favourite memories with him.

Your favourite comedy film?

Apparently Ghostbusters (1984). Maybe Ich und die Kaiserin (1933)?

A music video you would love to see developed into a film?

I don't music videos, sorry.

(The above typo was intentional)

A film everyone loves but you hate?

The Land Before Time (1988), not because I hate it, I just don't see... whatever it is. I should love it, I love Don Bluth and dinos and yet??

A film you love but everyone else hates?

Would say Donkey Xote (2007), but nobody knows what that is. It's trash, but it's my beautiful trash <3

For something a little more well known, Dark Journey (1937). I still think it's meh, but it has grown on me. Damn you, Karl!

Which cinematic universe would you like to live in?

What, like the MCU? I don't understand??

What's your favourite biopic?

Vincent and Theo (1990), since in terms of characters it's pretty much perfect. There has never been a better Van Gogh than Tim Roth's, not only when it comes to the writing, but also the performance.

I should not have watched it at 12 lol

Mainstream movies or indie movies?

I'm not a dudebro anti-intellectual that shuns anything non-American blockbuster, but I'm not a pretentious bettet-than-thou snob. A good film is a good film. I have no preference.

Old movies or contemporary movies?

I would also say I have no preference, but I'm waaay behind on new releases, and, well, the Veidtwatch is still ongoing. So ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

A film with an amazing soundtrack?

Will actually choose one film this time: Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas (2003)'s soundtrack plays in my head everytime I need to be brave about something. Love it.
scifirenegade: (blep | marquis)

Well, the book I got wasn't even 57 pages long, so I opened page 47 instead.

Legionário: soldado do império romano (ver legião)

Basically it's an extremely simple definition of Roman legionnaire. It's a kids' book about Ancient Rome after all! I was at my bedroom's door, that was the closest book on the shelf :P
