That pic of Connie by his bookshelf, at his home in Hampstead (link goes to the Allen bio; there's a better pic but can't link to it for reasons beyond my control). I'm a snoop, I was trying to discover what sort of books he had. The only one I could make out was Brot und Wein, an anti-fascist novel. Not to be confused with Wien und der Wein, the godawful Der Kongress Tanzt song. Neat-o.
His nose is crooked! It leans a little bit to his left side. Love that.
The Oberaertz fic is still kicking. The build-up is almost cleaned up (hehe), but I'm having trouble with the rest. How do you make your protag more proactive when she's tied up?
Just finished more Satanas fanart (hence the OMG nose thing).

You know, it's Le génie du mal, that "sexy" Satan statue. And that scary Lucifer painting by Stuck.
Did you know there are surviving Connie clips from Satanas? But they're stuck in some Japanese archive? Sigh.
Still have that same feeling I'm inconveniencing people when interacting. Plus, that feeling that when people talk to me it's out of pity, or out of obligation. I've been going out more, and I've met new people, but it always feels like there's a wall between me and others. It's a weird loop.

Anyway, weird-looking cigarette card. Found here.

In which Erik came to me in a dream like this. I shall not elaborate what happened next.

I honestly have no idea. You eat those chips, Andersen. Clayton won't resist for long, I bet.

Another year, another slutty Marquis. The background was done in oil pastel (it looks like crayon but shhh) and the man himself was drawn digitally, then printed. He can be held!

I cry because Satanas (1920) is lost. I cope by stealing Doré's Paradise Lost illustrations and drawing Connie in them. It's also the happiest I've been with my art in a long time.

Aaaaand Rarest of Rarepairs had a lingerie prompt. I still can't draw Valerie Hobson, so she's pulling a Deborah. Work the stocking's Captain o7

10 December 2024 19:24As always, very tired and down. I am, however, in tears, because Fátima Opera Rock. Just... Wow...
I'm just surprised it's a thing. Portugal is extremely catholic, I wonder what the reception will be. (My mother thought Jesus Christ Superstar was blasphemy o_o)
Forgot to share. For the occasion of William Russell's 100th birthday!

Because he did play Mr. Rochester in a stage production of Jane Eyre! All the pics suck, so artistic liberties were taken.
I miss him.
I haven't progressed in the Veidtwatch much. Not because I'm tired of him (oh never; if that happens, consider that my evil mirror self has killed me and took my place). It's just... people... they drain me...
Screw that, look at this! Gigantic Conrad Veidt film cycle! In 2018. Sigh.
It's 30+ films that range from easy to find to "you have to ask the right people to get it" (alas, Dida Ibsen and Christian Wahnschaffe are stuck in archive hell, and therefore unavailable to us mere mortals). The first film shown was Ich und die Kaiserin even!
You bet I would skip all my examsand rob a bank haha just kidding to be there. If I knew about it. No wonder no one told me, I would've been even more insufferable lol
Didn't do very well, apparently, that's a shame.
Here's the programme in PDF. Warning: Veidt Stare (TM).
Another thing to turn me into an insufferable bastard that makes people complain when I'm not looking probs.
HD digitalisations! So shiny and HD! Sadly, we only get clips...
Films that tickle my fancy for obvious reasons:
There's also clips for Alraune and Ariane, which also caught my eye.
EDIT: Dürfen wir schweigen? (1926) and Die Letzte Kompagnie (1930) have also been digitised. And what in the world is Das Kabinett des Dr. Larifari??
For the past two weeks I've been writing, in a fugue state, what can only be described as "weird Oberaertz thing". Very self-indulgent. Also almost 2k words long and I'm still in the beginning. If people are allowed write their self-indulgences, so can I!

Since 1 January 2019, the Film Heritage Funding Programme (FFE) of the BKM, the federal states and the FFA has been providing up to 10 million euros annually for the digitisation of cinema films for a period of ten years.
For the feature-length fiction and documentary films in this funding programme, filmportal.de is providing the respective film beginnings. An overview of all funded films on filmportal.de can be found here.
Further information can be found at www.ffa.de

Films that tickle my fancy for obvious reasons:
- Der Reigen (1920) starring the great Asta Nielsen! There are thirty minutes of the film on YouTube in very nice quality (conpared to the Internet Archive one; it's a full copy, but it's smudged).
- Der Mann, der den Mord beging (1931), which I haven't seen yet (saving it for the end). It's night and day. Or it would be if...
- Der Schwarze Husar (1932) wasn't digitised. Holy.
- Ich und die Kaiserin (1933) also got the same treatmemt. Please Murnau Institute, give us the Blu-Ray!
There's also clips for Alraune and Ariane, which also caught my eye.

Random Thoughts
29 October 2024 14:38When will my wife (the Internet Archive) come back from the war?
Granted she wouldn't need to go to war if she had her security in check and wasn't outdated as hell but still
It has occurred to me that The Last Performance will become public domain next year. Free-to-use Erik!oh no
I've gotten plot bunnies for a pre-canon fic (there was a Brazillian magazine called Scena Muda, and one issue gave Erik a whole backstory, very possibly coming from production notes). Apparently he was a Russian noble that fled Russia after the revolution and ended up working as an illusionist's assistant in Hungary. And then he got really damn good. Good for him.
Even more) random thought: Sir Lancelot fanvids. There's only four, but I'm glad they exist.
( General coolness and thirst under the cut )
The art slump really never left. I feel like my art has gotten worse even (not that it was any good).
Have some more AADA fanart anyway...

The blue cornflowers are a headcanon by
Ailren. For the Rarest of Rarepairs ficathon (that allows art as well).

Also for Rarest of Rarepairs, we never got to see the scene in which Kurt finds out Paul's dead. So there. Made myself cry.
Don't read the paper, it's complete nonsense probably
