Tih Minh Random Notes: Episodes 2 and 3

Once a Lady (1931). What a bore. Woman marries wet cardboard Tory who hates her. Has a child. Basically the whole family forces the woman away. Ivor Novello is there and he's absolutely wasted on this (but very charming, glad to finally hear him without a fake accent). There's a pic of him with Joan Crawford for what is worth. Can't escape that woman lately.

Alright, Tih Minh shenanigans under the cut.

• Tih Minh goes to a sanatorium ('cause she can't do much, I have the feeling this is going to be a theme) and Kistna invited Jacques to Dolores's party. I don't know what their objective is here.


• Once again, "René Cresté fine as hell in suit". With Musidora probably off in Spain making movies, and Jacques lack of personality, I'm holding on to the heartthrob.


• Lord, they really fucked up with the clone tool there. It looks terrible! Very wobbly.


• Cheating at poker is their objective??


• Okay, maybe the look of it all is also worth holding on to. Shoddy restauration aside, it's all very well shot.


• Dolores wants Jacques's arse?? While the doctor and Kistna hide in the bushes lmao


• Oh okay, the inscription that Placide erased is safe because Jacques photographed it. Kistna pounces. Jacques makes a great "eh, why not?" face.


• Dude got poisoned by holding a necklace?? (Possible) And then Dolores leaps away like a cat?? Confusion.


• "Come meet me by the rocks" they say. Nah, Jacques is clever and hides behind the curtains of his room (sorry, but the reveal cracked me up). Plus, oh fuck did I kill the woman? *skitters away*


• Placide at sea, not having a good time.


• Rosette continues to be a treasure.


• Dolores amnesia?? Or why do I think she's faking it?


• The woman! She's missing! She's gooooone! Godfather touched the necklace smh


• All Tih Minh does is get kidnapped


• Oh lord, that poor horsie...


• Clone tool is still going crazy


• Jacques and Placide sneak into the baddies' villa in broad daylight (I'm assuming it's supposed to be night in canon) and Placide thought a dog statue was a real dog. Amazing.


• Wait, the baddies are also kidnapping women and putting them in a basement and sometimes they fight??


• Cute dog— fuck Kistna just killed the boy via injection??


• Of course there's opium involved *rolls eyes*


• Placide is secretly a genius. And then he gets caught in a bear trap. Alarm! Noble sacrifice! (Jacques fucks off. Judex would never!)


• Okay, I don't think this soundtrack was part of this release, unless they decided to use royalty-free music for it. That explains why there was musique concrète in some parts, must be the uploader's addition.


• They forced Placide to drink the potion, but because he changed it with water, he's gotta do some fake sleeping. Love the villains explaining what the potion does as he pretends to sleep as well.


• The more time passes, the more I think Jules Verne must be involved in some way.


• Put yourself in the box, boy!


• More mysterious shadows by the window, knocking... Rosette! Dunno why she's being all mysterious.


• "Where's Placide?" "Sorry, I left your soon-to-be-hubby to the wolves."


• Excuse me, haunted garden?? The girls are out! Also it's sapphic somehow. "The living dead." Bitch, they're forced to be on drugs! Kindness, kindness.


• Les Vampires still beats this in its craziness (and is better, I still miss Musidora ;w; )

Yeah, Tih Minh is a rubbish character. Can you see Jacques feet behind the curtain? Or was that 'Les Vampires'? I did cheer up when Edouard Mathe turned up as Jacques best friend it was almost like the old days. I'd forgotten about the message in the book and it was a large part of the plot!

I think it must have been in Les Vampires, the shot of Jacques behind the curtain was waist-up.

Wait, Mathé? I completely missed him, unless he only shows up in episode 4.

It's all over the place, so no surprising you forgotten the book bit :P
