Julie said it. Finally. As her birthday approached, her anxiety grew, and she had to let it all out. The mere thought of spending yet another day with it stuck in her throat made her dizzy, so tired she was of pretending.
Julie said it. Finally. She loved someone, yes, but it wasn't Erik. And his face contorted in anguish, because it was impossible, no, it couldn't be. A hand reached hers, but afraid to give him false hopes, she slipped it away.
Forget that man, he pleaded. I'll do anything, he cried. Just pretend I'm the person you like.
