Buffo tugged at the sleeves of his coat, a bit short, but it was all he had. His makeup was immaculate at least.
Their first big show was over, to tremendous applause. Erik and Julie were out mingling with famous and fashionable people somewhere.
Well, Buffo was fashionable, and soon-to-be-famous, and he always thought, ever since he worked on that circus, that he ought to be socialising with other kindred peoples. He took in the environment, top hats and sparkly dresses, cigar smoke and golden light.
Puffed up chest, winning smile, and he strutted into the crowd with absolute confidence.
