Note: Drabble. For comment_fic, prompt was "first car". I was snooping the Internet Movie Cars Database, and apparently the half-car they used in An Unearthly Child is a Wolseley 6/80. Quite a striking thing. Also on AO3.


Ian couldn’t believe it.

After years of saving up and enduring an unreliable bus system, he got a car.

It was a second-hand Wolseley — there was no way Ian could get a brand-new car, not with his teacher’s salary. He contemplated getting the Volkswagen that was next to it, but it wasn’t as pleasing to the eye.

His new car was a temperamental beast, but he would deal with that later. He would tame it.

Every policeman in London had that same car, but he didn’t care.

Ian got a car.

Now, where was he going to park it?

Short but sweet. Liked that you gave some character to Ian and the car mentioned. A good insight into him before the Doctor, in such short sentences.

Boy is the car thing such a mood though. I really want a Vespa or a similar electric scooter but a driving lisence and the desired vehicle are so much money.. Gotta rely on friends and a equally terrible bus system m'self, damn.
