Well, five. Five excitable, loud and floppy-eared puppies running about in the guest room, with one very confused Marquis watching over them. When he saw Juliette come in, he gave her a defeated look. The little gentlemen were too much for him to handle, it seemed.
"Jean is the one who takes care of the dogs," he told her. A nice piece of information, it explained everything so perfectly!
"Cute!" She crouched, and a little pup approached her and licked her hand.
"I'm much better with cats, you know," the Marquis reminded her.
"I know you are."
